EU citizens are currently 15 times more likely to die of COVID-19 than those of the UK, a shocking new analysis has indicated.
Using figures from Our World In Data and Johns Hopkins University, Facts4EU’s experts suggest the likelihood of dying from COVID-19, based on a seven-day rolling average, was 15 times higher within the EU27 than it was in the UK.
The report indicates citizens are:
38 times more likely to die in Poland
16 times more likely to die in Italy
13 times more likely to die in France
8 times more likely to die in Germany
5 times more likely to die in Spain
Facts4EU spokesman David Evans said: “What we have shown above are the official figures, as at Friday 23 April 2021.
“Many EU27 countries are now going their own way, bypassing the EU Commission.”
He added: “The days of ‘solidarity’ and ‘unity’ seem to be long gone.
“We can only hope that the independent action now being taken by individual governments of EU27 countries will prove successful.”
Mr Evans stressed: “Remainer-Rejoiners claim that if the United Kingdom had still been a member of the EU, it could still have pursued its own vaccination strategy.
“We would ask them one, simple question: if that's true, why did all 27 EU countries follow the EU Commission's disastrous programme?”
Mr Habib told Express.co.uk: “When the pandemic first hit, many were quick to identify the relative failings of our Government compared to those in Europe. But of one thing there is now no doubt.
“The UK has developed and administered a world beating vaccination programme.
“This is due to first class research facilities, pharma companies and good administrative oversight but all this would have been for nought if we had still been in the EU.
“We would have been hampered by the tardiness of the European Medical Agency and Ursula Von der Leyen’s insistence that their programme be handled centrally. That administration was utterly hopeless.”
Mr Habib added: “The EU has flailed around seeking to blame varyingly the UK for its selfishness and AstraZeneca for not delivering doses to the EU ahead of its other commitments.
“Never did it bother with any reflective introspection to identify and fix its own failings. Such was its fear of the political fall-out of failure that it also sought to rubbish the vaccine itself.
“The relative likelihood of dying from the virus in Europe, uncovered by Fact4EU, leaves no room for the EU to hide.
“It must face the reality that when Europe most needed the EU to up its game, it failed - fatally.”
The Commission, headed up by president Ursula von der Leyen, has faced enormous criticism for the sluggish pace of its vaccine rollout.

The Commission, headed up by president Ursula von der Leyen, has faced enormous criticism for the sluggish pace of its vaccine rollout.
Our World in Data figures indicate that as of Saturday, 28.73 vaccinations per 100 people had been administered within the bloc, significantly less than half that of the UK, where the figure is 67.14.
Nevertheless, speaking yesterday, European Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton insisted the European Union will be able to produce enough vaccines to achieve its target for immunity of its adult population by the middle of July.
The European Commission has set a target of inoculating 70 percent of the EU's adult population by the end of this summer, banking on a big increase in vaccine deliveries to accelerate its vaccination drive.
Mr Breton told Greek weekly newspaper To Vima: "We are confident that we will be able to produce a sufficient number of vaccines to achieve the goal of collective immunity, which means that 70 percent of the adult population would have been vaccinated by mid-July.”
The Commission said earlier this week that it expects to seal the world's biggest vaccine supply deal within days, securing up to 1.8 billion doses of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine between 2021-2023.
Mr Breton said that more than 400 million doses were expected to be delivered in the second quarter.
He added: “Member States need to be ready to speed up vaccinations.”
Mr Breton also said vaccine production in Europe was doubling every month in 53 production facilities and that by the end of the year, annual production capacity will reach three billion doses with more production lines available.
Israel’s death rate has plummeted the reason is they are the world leader in vaccine per million of citizens. Won’t be long before the flat earth mafia comes in like seagulls to crap all over you. They will have zero peer reviewed science or data but they know the facts and are just to be listened too because they say so. The U.S. Numbers are pretty clear too. 78 million full vaccinated 5800 positive cases, 74 deaths that’s 74 deaths out of 78 million people.
I don’t believe anything they say about covid or covid vaccinations.
I only believe what I SEE happening in a patient population.
The numbers of cases are about as reliable as the numbers of votes in the US Presidential elections.
The vaccinations are worthless and do more harm than good:
>> Israel’s death rate has plummeted the reason is they are the world leader in vaccine per million of citizens.
US infected/fatality numbers plummeted prior to the vaccine rollout.
Funny what changing the “testing” criteria will do. If they would have stopped testing last April we would have defeated CV19 cold.
Buzz off seagull. There is so much valid science from Israel and now the USA. Flat out bugger off or produce peer reviewed data to show your opinion is valid. The fact is out of 78 MILLION fully vaccinated Americans 74 have died that’s a 0.0007 fatality rate that’s not up for debate those are accountable proven numbers. Anything you say without the science to back it up is BS and will and should be ignored.
Post a link to peer reviewed science showing how and when the testing changed.
The vaccines are working. Countries with high vaccination rates are on average doing much better than those with lower vaccination rates - just look at how bad it is in India and Brazil right now.
You have good reason to be doubtful. But it’s also reasonable to pick any side of the issue given the barrage of compelling noise.
I say let those that want the vax have it. But they must STFU when it concerns the rest of the population, especially when it concerns those less than 50 YO.
The SARS case fatality remains virtually non-existent for those less than 25 YO. For those older, and exponential climb to 2% for those 80+ — the typical pneumonia fatalities.
The US case & fatality numbers dropped precipitously prior to the vax rollout.
SARS is real. Not arguing its impact is trivial.
They work. We are in a spike where i live and work. fewer then 10% of cases are in the mostly vaccinated over 65 crowd. Younger unvaccinated folks are the ones getting sick and hospitalized
>> not up for debate
Charming.
>> Anything you say without the science to back it up is BS
Well, you seem pretty level-headed.
What region are you in?
CDC numbers from 30 days ago. Daily cases are ~22k out of 102 million under the age of 25 which is 0.021% of that population. Of that group, 0.018% case fatality.
The vaccines are statistically irrelevant regarding the “younger unvaccinated folks”.
Exactly.
The only reason I had the seasonal Flu jab in 2020 (before the plague) was because the UK government lowered the guidance to encourage 55+ to have it. Prior to that only 65+ would normally receive it - or younger people with specific issues.
COVID-19 is really a bad case of the Flu based upon the most reliable data - namely “excess deaths” against the 5-year moving average.
That was 30 days ago. First of all I said under 65 not under 25. Second we just had 5 high schools within about 5 miles of me close due to the number of covid cases. The vaccine is not statistically irrelevant in the younger age groups - they still get covid even if their complication rate is lower. All of the cases that I am aware of in family and friends in the last month have been HS and college kids and I have noticed a sharp uptick in the number of emails from my daughters elementary school about cases within the school requiring quarantine. In my hospital system there is a definite shift to younger under 65 patients matching the state figures. The simple fact is the vaccine is making a large difference in the demographics we are seeing both in cases and in hospitalized patients. The vaccine works
