Sunk in 600-700 meters of water with a 200 meter crush depth. The math isn’t that hard. A rescue mission went out the door the minute they lost contact. I give FULL respect to anyone who serves (or served) aboard a sub. Takes huge brass ones to do that when on long patrols, knowing one problem could doom everything.

Submariners are a different breed. You wont ever hear one of
them say “ i hope that gets fixed”..theres little room for pessimism onboard, except during a card game or ships raffle. RIP brothers.
