I really wish one of these legal talking heads would answer this question.

I don’t know anything about civilian criminal law, but I was a Marine Corps officer long enough to pick up more than a passing amount of knowledge on courts-martial. In the military, the jury is instructed to consider the lesser-included charges only after reaching a verdict on the more serious charge.

This verdict is bizarre, to me at least.

That sounds more logical to me.

What happened here makes me think “double jeopardy” - simultaneously.
