Somebody needs to ramp up the robocop technology pronto. Police run into impossible situations all the time nowadays. Perps are forever resisting/uncooperative. The threat of violence is ever-present. Video (whether bodycam or via cellphone) is used by the media to create a narrative (complete with pictures now) that once out stirs the boiling pot of public opinion against the cop (while 10 year old pictures taken at the perp’s confirmation or 8th grade graduation) work up the sympathy angle. If they could ever be created, Robcops would do away with all that (yeah, I know, I know)
That said, if it was my son’s neck under the knee of Chauvin, I’d want him found guilty of something. What he did was to go beyond what was necessary and excessive.
I see your point. But, then the programmers would be liable...
I could probably go with the manslaughter charge against Chauvin. Lock / bind Floyd’s feet together quickly and let him sit up...
But, due to those “impossible situations all the time” you mention, as I said to my wife yesterday evening “You’d have to be crazy to be a cop”, these days. But, as I also said, flip that: “In short order, all cops will be crazy people.”
