Not uncritically. I didn't listen much to what China said, they compulsively lie, but watched what they did.
They shut down a city of 11 million, savaged their own economy, forbid travel from Wuhan to anywhere else in China while encouraging Wuhanians (Wuhanites?) to go everywhere else in the world that wasn't China. All the while downplaying the disease they developed under the auspices of St. Dr. Fauchi.
I did pay attention to the "leaked" videos, data and statements. Videos of people being shoved into sealed steel boxed on pick up trucks, of city blocks being fogged and hand sprayed by men in isolation suits, of apartment dwellers being welded into their buildings, of people falling over in the streets. Some were genuine, some staged, some culled from obscure movies, all disavowed by the people who are known liars.
I did pay attention to the hard data, China Mobile losing 25,000,000 subscribers at precisely the point when no one would want to be cut off. Satellite data shown every bit of industry in Wuhan shut down, save one, that one being the steel furnaces, said furnaces producing anonymously high concentrations of sulfur, consistent with, say, 25 million bodies being incinerated in field expedient crematoria.
Caution dictated taking the WuFlu seriously at that point!
Even our own "everyone who dies with COVID is reported as dying of COVID" preserved that caution.
Truth eventually won out, but was it soon enough?

The false positive rate was 100%.
