If you want to look at it sinically, which I think is entirely necessary, there was the World Military Games being held in Wuhan at the time the "virus" appeared, leaked, flew by, whatever. There are two cyclists from the US that claim symptoms during the games. If you want to infect the world's military, or the US military, what better way.
On the flip side China claims those military infections came from the US, started with US personnel.
George Webb has really drilled down on this and was the first to call that out back in early 2020.

I had
exactly the same reaction.
All evidence points to an accidental release of a virus that was synthesized in gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab. Such research was definitely funded in part by the US NIH, and Dr. Fauci's NIAID in particular, both directly, and through other US government agencies and NGO cutouts. Scholarly papers co-authored by Wuhan scientists and published on the NIH website in March 2020 explicitly acknowledged the US funding. The behavior of Fauci and others at NIH and its affiliates is entirely consistent with their complicity in unleashing this plague.
The good news has been that this plague isn't nearly as deadly as the Black Death. The bad news is that the response of governments in progressive states has been as deadly to individual liberty and the pursuit of happiness as the Black Death was to life.

They truly have managed to terrify people. I just spent 3 days in Montana & there are businesses (small ones, not connected to major corporations) with mask mandates. Beyond stupid & very surprising in that state.

They let me go in an sit with him in hospice.

It wasn’t a hoax. There is a real bug out there.
However, it is over blown (and I say that as a happy pessimist).
It will be interesting what happens in the next summer of riots. If they keep up the mask mandates as the fabric of civilization shreds.
