Yep, when you say we’re losing to H1Bs and offshoring, I know that’s a fact.
And it sucks, because there’s really not many options now. All the low end is filled with illegals, even teens can barely get jobs in that area. To get a ‘behind the glass door’ style job, you pretty much have to be very well connected or Elon Musk level savvy. The middle is being killed off by what you said.

True. Only jobs left for Americans seem to be extremely low-paying retail jobs, fast-food jobs or warehouse jobs at Amazon.
Indians are taking all the skilled white-collar positions, and Mexicans are taking all the skilled blue-collar positions.
Many Freepers say a skilled blue-collar job is the only real answer to job stability. What they don’t say is all the junior-level positions are increasing filled with Mexicans and they will soon dominate these jobs as well.
Only area that Americans did well in were the services type jobs and small-business. Guess which two fields got absolutely killed with the coronavirus government lockdowns?

True. Many companies/ local governments see no social media as an immediate red flag.
No LinkedIn especially means no interviews as that’s an absolute requirement these days.
I used facebook and twitter to screen resumes years ago.
You can find all kinds of insights into a person’s personality and character.
Didn’t have to use it on one resume though. “2008 worked on the Obama campaign”. Immediate circular file.
International calling is included in many cellular plans, and I’m not telling you to do away with VOIP solutions such as Skype/Teams/Zoom/etc. Hell, you could use FaceTime or even Signal.
