Putin & Xi Have Red Lines, Too
Pat Buchanan dot com ^ | April 12th, 2021 | Patrick J Buchanan

What are Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping up to?

In recent days, Russian tanks, artillery, armor, trucks and troops have been moving by road and rail ever closer to Ukraine, and Moscow is said to be repositioning its 56th Guards Air Assault Brigade in Crimea.

Military sources in Kyiv estimate there are now 85,000 Russian troops between six and 25 miles from Ukraine’s northern and eastern borders.

“I have real concerns about Russia’s actions on the borders of Ukraine. There are more Russian forces massed on those borders than at any time since 2014 when Russia first invaded,” said Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday’s “Meet the Press.” Blinken added this warning:

“President Biden’s been very clear about this. If Russia acts recklessly, or aggressively, there will be costs, there will be consequences.”

What “costs” and what “consequences” were left unstated.

Earlier, Biden personally assured President Volodymyr Zelensky of America’s “unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression in the Donbass and Crimea.”

What does that mean?

We have no interests in Ukraine.

So why kick Ukrainian dirt?

What the hell are these people in the White House thinking?

I do share the President Biden’s sentiments on this issue (even a broken clock is right twice a day). But all I can do is to offer words of support. Ukraine is a shitty country located in a crappy part of the world. As simple as that. If Russia wants Ukraine, they can have it. But they are not powerful enough to take the whole country. The most that they will seize is the eastern part where they have support of Russian separatists. The government in Kiev is not at risk of falling.

It’s my opinion he should do no more than that.

If you were to hold an auction for western Ukraine, you would have no bidders.

Not even Russia.

Nobody wants the west.

Yeah, but the people pulling his strings may have more sinister things in mind. With Biden the Oval Office, there’s nothing standing in the way of the Deep State having its way in foreign policy.

Biden will send Hunter Biden to work out an under-the-table-deal with Russia to sell out Ukrainian freedom. Why not? He’s aided our arch-enemy Red China in the presence of his father, our now brain-addled President.

Remember, the West failed to stop Germany’s threats of aggression in 1938 at Munich and the cost was over 40-60 million lives and the birth of continent-wide “Genocide” as a military/political policy. Stalin, Mao, Kim, and Ho all watched this cowardice succeed and their heirs today are just modernizing it.

They have a lot of hillbillies with dirty nails and bad hair. Many relocated to Kiev on government positions since 2014 and slealing millions but still don’t get a good haircut nor wash hands.

I agree. Here’s what I was ridiculing:

“President Biden’s been very clear about this. If Russia acts recklessly, or aggressively, there will be costs, there will be consequences.”

I’m of the opinion that Biden hasn’t a clue about anything that’s going on in the world or even what’s going on in the White House

“President Biden’s been very clear about this...

Who is this "“President Biden" fellow?

Is "Blinked" talking about the adult-diaper-filling senile fool in The Puppet Palace?

We have no interests. However, Biden, his family, other political families, and the deep state in general have a lot to lose if the flow of bribery and payoffs from Ukraine stop. Additionally, Hunter Biden must be allowed access to Ukrainian prostitutes. Therefore, young Americans must be sent to their deaths to preserve the privileges of Democrat politicians, their families, and supporters in general.

This lame duck #notmypresident administration, like the ObamaIdiot administration, won’t do jack sh*t other than blow smoke, acquiesce, and draw fake red lines. Both Russia and China know this. That said, both Russia and China still have to move cautiously and in calculated ways and means. If both Russia and China wanted to put the ultimate super duper squeeze and monkey wrench on this lame arse #notmypresident administration, all they would have to do is act in consort and coordinate attacks against Ukraine AND Taiwan simultaneously.

The problem is.both Ukraine and Taiwan are terribly important not for their own intrinsic value but because they are symptomatic of a tectonic shift in the world order that has been in place since 1945.

The United States has served as policeman of the world, certainly policeman of the world's seas, but the two provocations by Russia and China against Ukraine and Taiwan are forcing the United States to question that role. Undoubtedly, the weight of opinion in America will be that the protection of these two states from aggression is not worth war. The public is probably right.

When that feckless position is exposed for all the world to see, all the world will recognize that America is no longer its policeman, that they can no longer rely on the American umbrella of protection. Alliances with America will weaken if not crumble.

What most of us on this thread do not recognize is the danger that America's position as the reserve currency could easily also disappear when the perception of America around the world changes. When that happens there will be nothing to stop soaring interest rates from driving the American economy onto the rocks.

If the question is do we defend Crimea and Taiwan or become bankrupt, the question might get a different answer from our people but that question, thankfully, will not be put to them.

Finally, we are in this predicament of being required to defend Ukraine and Taiwan or lose face with all the consequences that one can imagine because we put in place a president, a party and an ideology that is feckless and known to be feckless. Russia and China challenge us because they do not fear us now.

We will pay a terrible price if either Russia or China pursue their games to the end.

One of many big problems is that if America fails in the defence of Taiwan (either by not fighting or being defeated) the whole security foundation of the western aligned world collapses. Expect countries to either take the knee to China or build nuclear weapons as the trust in America’s ‘nuclear umbrella’ evaporates.

The other side effect (and this also applies to failure to defend Ukraine) will be that nobody will trust the promises of the United States. This will see flight from the US dollar/bonds and basically shoot the American economy in the head in a way that would make the COVID recession look like a golden age.

The cascade of horribles exposed by our fecklessness in Ukraine and Taiwan is not readily obvious but no less serious for that.

As a small example, the power of American super carriers will be exposed as past century's technology able to perform at a level not much more effective than 19th-century British gunboats. The evidence? We do not dare expose super carriers to the Black Sea or the Straits of Taiwan if the matter gets really serious. A small example but one that exposes the strategic and tactical vulnerability of America as the world's policeman.

Even greater threats to that role are unavoidable when we begin to pay the consequences for our mindless profligate spending as the debt comes home to roost.

“Because we(they) put in place a president.......” I feel this presidency was stolen by democrat oligarchs in four or five big cities, “we” have no blame in this travesty.
