Thanks for that, I now know that a Directed Verdict exists. I did not know that the judge can take over the fact-finding role of the jury when the evidence is so compelling that only one verdict can be given.

You’re welcome. At least here in CA it does although I have no idea what the law of MN provides. Sometimes the evidence is so lacking that a judge is allowed to determine that, as a matter of law, it is insufficient to support a conviction
