Mitt Romney’s dad hated Goldwater’s candidacy in 1964 and spoke out against it.

They reviled Reagan.

There is a pattern at work.

Consider Bill’s late father Irving. The so-called “neoconservatives” of which he was supposed champion were (vocally) against the Great Society, but all for the welfare system FDR set up.

So is most of the country. I'm not really sure FDR set up much of a welfare system, but you aren't going to get anywhere campaigning against social security, securities regulation, or the existence of labor unions.

Never Trumpers brought us the unsuccessful candidacies of John McCann and Mitt Romney (and 2 terms of president Obama).

Who else was running? You can't beat actual candidates with imaginary ones who aren't in the race. Obama would have won in 2008 whoever was running against him.

Clearly, though, many of the Never Trumpers are McCain and Romney consultants who were looking for a way to make money when they couldn't get other work.

never Trumpers are spies within our party. They should be outed and tossed. They were never with us in the first place. They pray to Romney.

Agreed. Some of the authors became Trump’s biggest supporters.

He was on tv for over 20 years as a conservative commentator. That’s why I said probably.

Nobody’s ever really done it. And frankly, that’s a nonsequitur.

The Dems haven’t campaigned on totalitarianism, but that’s what they bring every time they get into power.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane with Barney Miller. The era of the comedy sit-coms is dearly missed and needed back. I got a complete set of “Night Court” and have 2 or 3 doses a day. Will have to look for some of the Barney Miller episodes in a viewable quality.

It wouldn’t hurt my heart if they all took a permanent vacation in a foreign nation.

That goes for the whole mess of hate-America scum.

Stumbling across this months later, it got me wondering how much of the conservative press is controlled opposition in all but name. Because that is what the National Review has become.

National Review has ALWAYS been neo-con nonsense. Neo-cons are simply liberals who like war.

Bill Kristol and Mona Charen were probably lying about being on the right. They only cared about foreign policy.

Yup. They are neo-cons, and as I observed above, neo-cons are basically liberals who like war.

Do slithering snakes like Wehner, Kristol, Will and Charen ever hold themselves accountable?

We could reform SS properly, but every time somebody suggests that, the response gives me a mental image of an old guy* shaking his cane or walking stick yelling “DON’T YOU TOUCH MY SOCIAL SECURITY!!!” in Simpsons “Old Man Yells At Cloud” fashion.

*Note: I’m 54, but I’m willing to take a hit in the near future to see SS become solvent.
