There was a Honeymooners episode on approximately this premise! Ralph and Norton were going to get rich owning a motel or something but tbe new freeway passed them by!
That’s sort of the backstory for Hitccock’s Pyscho. The Bates Motel lost almost all its business when they built a highway that bypassed the property.
