As protesters on left and right target public servants at home, one city pushes back

For government officials from Los Angeles to Seattle and beyond, 2020 was the year that political protests literally came home to roost. Demonstrators repeatedly ditched traditional venues, such as government buildings and big commercial streets, to chant, fulminate and sit-in outside the front doors of officials including Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best, former Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Jackie Lacey and the county’s director of public health, Barbara Ferrer.

When Sacramento’s mayor and city manager got the same treatment in 2020, the city responded like many of its peers nationally: quietly letting the protesters have their way, in the hope of avoiding violent encounters with police.

That approach ended on the last Sunday of March in California’s capital, at a planned protest outside City Manager Howard Chan’s suburban home.

The subsequent protest drew only about 30 people and petered out without any serious confrontation. None of the demonstrators, upset at the city manager’s handling of police abuses and winter sheltering of homeless people, were arrested. Chan’s home went undamaged, in contrast to a February rampage in which police said demonstrators tore up Steinberg’s front yard, pelted his door with rocks, trashed a garden sculpture and stole a security camera.

Skyler Henry, a Sacramento musician sympathetic to the “Sactivists,” said two-faced public officials are fair game for such tactics, whether they are city managers or Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, a moderate Democrat from Arizona who recently voted against a minimum wage increase.

“You should be terrorized for the rest of your life. You should never be able to leave your house, if that is how you are going to use your position to govern,” Henry said of Sinema. “The same thing sort of applies with the mayor and city manager of this city.”

As protesters on left and right target public servants at home, one city pushes back

Name three examples of that behavior from the right.

When the media has to report something they deem negative about the left they make sure to lump in the right with their criticism of their fellow lefties!

Under the present circumstances the homes of public officials who order businesses shut down or order the wearing of masks have been picketed in the last year.

A cop who arrested a mother for taking her child to a park in Idaho had his home become the scene of a protest.

If that’s the “Right” then so be it.

"When the media has to report something they deem negative about the left they make sure to lump in the right with their criticism of their fellow lefties!"

Yes, the author establishes a false equivalency between left and right. 80-90% of this stuff came from the left, and 99% of the violence did.

Corrected version: Skyler Henry, a Sacramento musician sympathetic to the “Bolsheviks,” said two-faced public officials are fair game for such tactics, whether they are city managers or Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, a moderate Democrat from Arizona who recently voted against a minimum wage increase.

“You should be sent to a labor camp where you can be fed 600 calories a day, be terrorized by sadistic camp guards and slowly worked to death! That is what we need to protect our democracy!"

So let’s look ahead a little.
This has to be the new Communist leaders’ plan. Nothing is by chance.

Earlier they intimidated Tucker Carlson, Ted Cruz, Mitch McConnell, Sarah Huckabee and others.

My point:
There will be layoffs and lack of new recruits for law enforcement, along with end to their protection rights (as repealed in Maryland already). They will face civil court threats. And many cities will defund police big time.

So, homeowner is surrounded by mob and threatened. Defends self. Homeowner goes to jail and then is tried. Had to act, is now called vigilante or hot head, and there were no police on hand to come out.

No win for us.

Interesting point inside the LA Pravda. The protesters are whining about property damage being referred to as “violence”, yet I seem to remember that “silence is violence” according to some of the leftist dirtbag POS.
So which is it? Is property damage NOT violence, yet SILENCE is? Yet more garbage from the left. Perhaps they are the ones in need of re-education camps?

IMHO

Frankly I have no issue with gubmint workers facing consequences for their actions (or inaction).

city manager’s home in North Natomas, a quiet neighborhood of expansive tract homes in a deep floodplain

How is it anyone is allowed to build on a flood plain?

It’s not that hard to find addresses of public officials. And in this day and age of widespread government corruption and their insatiable appetite for power and control of everything, I think the addresses of all public officials should be readily accessible public information.

I agree; this idea that they are protected as an elite caste, and immune to the effects of their own actions, is ridiculous.

The left’s goal is to destroy local policing and establish a federal force. Local police departments and sheriffs are the last bulwark against federal tyranny, and the deep state wants all police getting their orders from DC.

In this very verbose, unfocused screed, I had no luck finding out what measure was actually taken to “push back.”
