My brother had a clinic appointment in the last month, with a nurse drawing blood and somehow a conversation started up on handguns. She was mid-40s....never owned a gun in her life. He gave her the five-minute introduction....best small pistol for lugging around in a purse, etc. Then he gave her the name of the better shop around town and how the purchase would work, and lectured her on taking their weekend training class.
I think if you went out and just gauged first-time ownership in the past year....probably over 5-million across the US since the Minneapolis episode.

Before the boating accident, all of my guns were black. I had one stainless steel shotgun for marine use, but I’ve never been partial to the steel look for my weaponry.
There is no way to know how much black ownership is up because nobody knows how many blacks had guns to begin with.
Look at Chicago. Illinois has strict guns laws and even a waiting period to purchase. Look at the number of people shot - more than 800 so far this year in one city! How many of them were done with legally purchased weapons? Damn few.
criminals and gang-bangers don’t generally purchase their firearms through retail outlets and go through background checks, so any stats that might show black gun ownership going up would be from the group of majority law-abiding, hard-working black folks purchasing guns to protect themselves from thugs, thieves, rapists, gang-bangers, feral utes, and BLM rioters who largely prey on the lower social-economic echelons, particularly the black communities ...
and that’s a GOOD thing ... a very good thing ... particularly since defunding the police impacts the lower social-economic groups FAR more than folks who live in much safer neighborhoods ...
