Not true. The leading most read publication was the New York Times, at even then it was referred to as Pravda on The Hudson, for always carrying the water for the left.
And who did most of the “press” follow the lead of? Pravda on The Hudson. Education? 1967-68 my college professor in my major, Political Science, was a self-identified Marxist, and he was the tenured head of the program, having sat as the head since the early 1950s. He was not a minority in the “humanities” at that time. Every other major U.S. institution was already turning Left, as only we Conservatives understood at the time.
