Todd Whines Over ‘Very Extreme’ GOP Defending Gun Rights

On MSNBC’s MTP Daily Friday afternoon, host Chuck Todd just couldn’t believe that Republicans weren’t caving to left-wing pressure to enact federal gun control measures. The anchor wailed that the GOP had become “very extreme” when it came to protecting Second Amendment rights and bemoaned the lack of “moderate” Republicans who would sign on to Democratic Party agenda items.

Haake feared that “mainstream Republicanism got squashed during the Trump years” and warned “there is a much diminished sense of what it means to be a moderate Republican anymore on any of these issues.” He frustratingly asked: “Who, in what you might consider the moderate wing of the Republican Party, could provide cover for wanting to restrict gun rights in any way, right?”

The reporter longed for the days when GOP members of Congress would shut down conservatives: “I mean, the group of people who might have said, ‘If we band together, we can discuss this issue and protect ourselves from our own right flank,’ doesn’t really exist anymore in the modern Republican Party.”

Exactly how many Democrats are eager to stand up the radical left wing of their party? When some, like Joe Manchin, actually do, they get pilloried by the liberal press. Meanwhile, hacks like Todd and Haake only demand Republicans become “moderate.”

Democrats are getting pissed! They're holding on to legislative power by a mere thread (7 seat majority in the House with 6 vacancies and a 50-50 Senate) and they can't get Republicans to help get their agenda items passed.

The moderates who used to give them cover are no more (retired, died, defeated by democrats or more conservative republicans, or just scared to death of a primary challenge).

It's just SO HARD to be a Democrat these days. It used to be fun.

I guess I just can’t help myself...I’m “a typical white person” who “bitterly clings to his guns and his religion”.

The democrats committed excessive election fraud to steal the election in 2020. It’s out there and easy to see for anyone with half a brain. How about that chuck? Could that have something to do with the country’s opposition to their radical leftist agenda?

“Aren’t moderate Republicans, often called democrats?”

Today’s conservatives are yesteryear’s moderates.
Today’s moderates are yesteryear’s leftists.
Today’s leftists are yesteryear’s communists.

Today’s patriots are called extremists and terrorists by our overlords. (Much the same as our Founders.)

yep moving the goalposts.

you are either a collectivist or an individualist.

individualists honor their oath to defend the Constitution.

collectivists view the Constitution as an impediment to installing their collectivist dystopia and subvert it every chance they get.

Dimlibs fail to address the areas where the real gun violence is coming from not the real root cause of it.

There will be more people killed on the streets of Chicago in a month that in all the other high profile “mass shootings” combined.

One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter. The democrat party’s information warfare wing (e.g. nbc, msnbc, cbe, abc, wash post, nyt etc) is the enemy, folks.

There are a couple of things the left doesn’t get...

These idiot “elites” truly believe that power belongs in the hands of those “fit to rule”. Well, since not a one of them knows anything about the rest of us, they don’t know that their belief in themselves as being “fit to rule” gets a great big fat juicy razzberry from the rest of us. Since they are so high profile, we know much more about THEM than they do of us. For instance: we know they are galactically stupid navel-gazers, self-important, self-congratulatory and incapable of learning anything of importance, smug, petty, arrogant and full of unearned “self esteem”. They continue to believe we are stupid and incapable of self-governance.

Second, “we the people” far, FAR outnumber those on the left. They should be able to understand that their ratings and viewership are indicators of how much the people hate their “news” organization”, the leftist demonRATs must steal elections in order to win, those that turn out for their riots and abusive “protests” are the largest part of their base and some of them don’t even vote. Good, hard working parents are beginning to pull their kids out of the public schools and thinking twice about the colleges they will send their money to and the fed is facing more and more resistance from the states (the PEOPLE) and it WILL get louder as governors discover their ability of nullification (BECAUSE of the PEOPLE).

“Therefore, send not to know For whom the bell tolls, It tolls for thee.” John Donne (1572 - 1631)

Between 1962 and 1985 the target was handguns. If they get a ban on semi auto rifles rest assured handguns will againbe the next target.

Here is how they proposed to make handguns illegal, now rifles.

Nelson T. ‘Pete’ Shields
Founder of Handgun Control, Inc. (Now the Brady Center)

“I’m convinced that we have to have federal legislation to build on. We’re going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily — given the political realities — going to be very modest.

Of course, it’s true that politicians will then go home and say, ‘This is a great law. The problem is solved.’ And it’s also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time.

So then we’ll have to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen that law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we’d be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal — total control of handguns in the United States — is going to take time.

My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country. The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition — except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors — TOTALLY ILLEGAL.”

-Pete Shields, Chairman and founder, Handgun Control Inc., “A Reporter At Large: Handguns,” The New Yorker, July 26, 1976, 57-58

“Yes, I’m for an outright ban [on handguns].”

-Pete Shields, Chairman emeritus, Handgun Control, Inc., 60 Minutes interview

HCI, around 1984, made a grab for the semi-auto rifles and shotguns, and missed. Then Josh Sugarmann tuned in. This has been the mantra ever since.
“ Assault weapons’ menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully-automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons —anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun— can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.”

– Josh Sugarmann

Liberals can't stand it when I remind them that the Second Amendment is just as sacred as the other 9 amendments in our Bill of Rights.

George Mason adroitly defined "militia" as anyone not affiliated with the government, seconded by Thomas Jefferson.

I’m for Common Sense gun control.

If you vote for a Democrat or don’t vote, you cannot own a gun. No exceptions.

Democrats have the voter lists of who voted for them and who didn’t. They should be tasked to go to the homes of their fellow Democrats and collect all their guns.

Come on man! Its “for the children”.

What? you say that’s “not constitutional”?

Its actually about TWICE as constitutional as the Democrat’s current gun control plans.
