J&J is now a significant contributor - about a half million per day, fully vaccinated.
Maybe that will be the new normal for J&J for a while - far above last month, but still far behind their originally planned delivery schedule.

The Novavax COVID-19 vaccine is likely to be authorized for the US in May. This would be a good vaccine for those who do not want an mRNA type vaccine. It’s interesting that Novavax plans to offer its trial participants the choice to participate in BLINDED crossover trials.

Yep... and that’s why my wife and I chose the Moderna vaccine. It’s biologically “clean” and pure. In the future, using the mRNA technology, they’ll be able to quickly produce flu vaccine that’s effective against the flu strain(s) that are actually in circulation in that flu season. Imagine that. Now they have to guess, far in advance, which strain(s) will be circulating in that flu season and, unfortunately, they’re more often wrong than right.

J&J also has a deal with Merck (a World Class Company), to produce the J&J vaccine (one of the few good things to come out of this Administration).
Once they are in production (it might take months, but hopefully they can Warp Speed it up), we should be off to the races, regardless of what happens with Emergent.
Apparently, Pros from J&J have been flooding the zone, taking over the Emergent operation, to unscrew it up. Merck has reportedly sent some folks too.
J&J is not historically a vaccine powerhouse company (Merck is). J&J does a lot of Health and Beauty products.
J&J seems to have made some wise hires in their R&D Department, and hit a home run with this new product development.
Not having a bunch of in-house vaccine production capacity, they had to contract it out - but everybody else was snapping up all the best capacity at that time, as the whole World went into a vaccine frenzy over COVID.
Since Merck’s vaccine candidate crapped out, they are now swinging their world-beating productive capacity over to the J&J product. Merck has the ability to crank out vaccine, like few others.
Yeah I get the sense the Emergent hoopla was a symptom of the change in White House administrations even if indirectly.
I know people hold vendettas (understandably) with J and J over the babypowder/asbestos lawsuits. The same way people may with Pfizer, Merck, et al. over the opioid crisis.
But the above companies are also capable of accomplishing much good. And for all the flack “anti-vaxxers” get - they do contribute to a culture of holding “Big Pharma” and the scientific elite, as well as the media accountable. Which is important.
My hope is that moving forward, more will be understood about the intricacies of each vaccine. And that improvements be made as well.

Great explanation! It's truly sad the amount of disinformation that has been spread concerning the mRNA COVID vaccines. There are actually people that think this method of vaccine development alters human genes when all that was done was to alter an innocuous virus with a COVID protein spike to cause an immune response.
My wife and I both had the first round of Pfizer shots a week ago. I had considered waiting on the J&J in order to skip the second trip for the booster but in hindsight, I'm glad to have received the Pfizer instead.
