>>But the agreement has left its upscale residents outraged.
As well it should. The developer got an exclusion so that only 12 units will be government housing. It should be all 60 units filled with criminals and crack addicts. They need to be forced to go full Cabrini Green.

The state of California is trying to force our little town to essentially do away with single family homes, all in the name of every town providing it's "fair share" of low income housing. Most of our town's houses are on 1/4 acre lots with a lot of post-war 1950s modest tract homes. When they sell, they most often get bulldozed to build custom homes.
But now the state is forcing towns to allow the existing homes to be demolished and TWO replacement homes built on the site. But that's not all, folks! Each of the two homes could have one detached "Auxiliary Dwelling Unit" (an ADU, aka, mother-in-law cottage) AND and a separate dwelling unit attached to the main home. So EVERY quarter acre could go from housing one family to six units housing SIX families. If that happens to many of the houses in town, it will irrevocably change the character of the town for much, much worse.
But these local and state initiatives pale in comparison to what Biden is trying to slip through in his noxious "Infrastructure" bill. He is planning to get rid of all single-family zoning throughout the entire USA. See:
BIDEN COMMENCES HIS WAR ON THE SUBURBS
By Paul Mirengoff, April 7, 2021, Powerline Blog: Joe Biden’s “infrastructure” bill isn’t about improving America’s roads, bridges, and other elements of our infrastructure. It’s about transforming America as radically as can be done through spending legislation.
We shouldn’t be surprised, therefore, that the legislation includes an attack on single-family zoning

Get as far away from big urban areas as fast as your little legs will take you.
You’ve been warned.

Saddle River mansion
Tear it down, build another Cabrini Green. The end result will still be the same.

Betcha the Saddle River residents will look into trying to build a high FENCE or a WALL around the perimeter of the affordable housing complex.

If you’ve seen recent photos you would concede that she already is.

That’s ridiculous.
A quarter of an acre is barely enough for one modest sized house.
