Huge Deliveries this week so far, including (finally) big J&J deliveries (5M in two days).
The dam may have finally burst for J&J supply. We'll have to see if their problems with sub-contractor Emergent BioSolutions disrupts their production, or if they have other suppliers. That situation still seems risky.
Daily Deaths trending down, Cases flat, but New Hospitalizations edged upward on this report.
Evil on the move!
Doubt me? Just watch
What is the good reason to get the vaccine?
Really good seeing the 65 and older demographic nearing 80% immunity.
To avoid the risk of severe disease, potentially death. And to significantly reduce the risk of contracting the disease and infecting others, particularly those who are more likely to develop severe illness.
And finally, to help reduce case and death numbers to the point that the politicians will finally drop the stupid shutdowns and lockdowns that are strangling the economy.
The Trump vaccines are medical miracles. I’m thankful we have them.
What is the good reason to get the vaccine?
*******
To help to remove the fearmongers last excuse to keep shamdemic going.
To protect people with serious co-morbidities.
Not sure if it qualifies as good or not, but I am getting it (first Pfizer shot done) to reduce my risk for catching the virus overall, and/or reducing the potential severity if I catch it.
To each their own, don’t think it should be mandated. We can get to herd immunity with already immune for some reason, vaccinated, and those that get it (symptomatic or not). I like the easy button...
“What is the good reason to get the vaccine?”
For me, there are several.
I want to put an end to lockdowns and restrictions.
I want to do my part to prevent transmitting the disease to others, who might be hurt or killed.
Even after the disease is no longer widespread, it will not likely go extinct. The likely outcome is that it will remain endemic at a low level, and continue picking off vulnerable people (elderly) who have not been vaccinated.
So it will always be a threat to you, until you have had the vaccine, or the disease.
“I am getting it (first Pfizer shot done)”
I just got my first Pfizer this Monday.
Did you have any symptoms from the shot?
“What is the good reason to get the vaccine?”
Too bad it doesn’t offer immunity against people such as yourself asking inane questions such as this.
To not worry about giving my at-risk wife a sickness that could kill or put her in the hospital because I haven't even the least little bit of courage to get a freaking covid vaccine.
You are thankful we have experimental shots for a virus that is 99.5 percent survivable? No animal testing and no long term effects studies? Americans have been played and deceived.
“Really good seeing the 65 and older demographic nearing 80% immunity.”
The first shot does the bulk of the job. Two weeks after that, and there begins strong protection against death from COVID.
No doubt that is taking a bite out of our death rate, which seems to be decoupling from the new case rate (with deaths declining more).
The most vulnerable were done first. Those in Long Term Care (LTC) Facilities were pretty much completely vaccinated in February, those 75 or older were mostly wrapping up second shots in March, 65-74 are mostly wrapping up second shots in April.
Over 90% of LTC residents got vaccinated, but 75+ and 65-74 year olds seemed to taper off after about 2/3rds got through the line for first shots, and straggle in at lower rates after that. I thought they might level off around 70% vaccine acceptance, but now 80% is looking like a good bet.
As time goes on, more folks seem willing to get the vaccine. I guess it makes sense that the risk/uncertainty is reduced, after a lot of other folks have already tried it.
They've taken it to a higher level now. Not only does it not prevent the disease, it contains Weaponized Mad Cow Disease™. That's right, WMCD™. Everyone who got the shot will develop a prion disease in 6 months. Of course, prion diseases are 100% fatal*, so get your affairs in order soon!
*According to FR's most fervent antivaxxer, death may be avoided by drinking colloidal snakeoil, err, silver. This offer expires yesterday. One offer per household. No living snakes were harmed in the making of colloidal snakeoil. Snakeoil salesmen not responsible for loss of life or blue appearance. Your mileage may vary. I'm a non-attorney spokesperson. Good one!
Got me to spit out my drink...
I might get one in a year.
I need to see how the lab rats do.
Not that I could tell.
Got it early morning on Saturday (before 8 am local). Kept waiting, thinking, looking for a headache, fatigue, etc., but nothing really ever came up. Even the “COVID arm” was a nothing. Got a little sore by end of the day but maybe 25% of a typical flu shot, and nothing like the stiffness from a tetanus.
So far have not grown a third eye or any antlers...
Better half says I have not lost my charm, nor my annoying disposition.
So far so good... ;)
“Better half says I have not lost my charm”
That itself, is pretty charming...
I had no symptoms whatsoever from my first Pfizer either.
Most people either have no symptoms, or worse symptoms from their second shots. I am planning a day off after my second shot, and some tylenol, just in case.
One thing that I have heard from some folks who have had COVID, is that they tend to feel their first vaccine shot, more than the second.
