It wasn't.
Doesn't sound like an Israeli action to me.
Oh, it was Israel. They have a history of hitting Iran.
Key issues in the conflict include Iran’s support of groups opposing Israel, Israel’s support of anti-Iranian rebel groups, Iran’s nuclear program, and Israel’s ties with other rivals of Iran such as Saudi Arabia and the United States.
If you’ll remember, they hit Iran as early as 1981 for, basically, the same reason to destroy the Osirak nuclear reactor and by doing so severly disturbed the Iraqi nuclear program severely.
Since that time, many things have happened to seriously effect the conflicts between the two countries. Iran reinforced the Syrian government and Hezbollah so Israel continues to try to prevent weapon transfers to Hezbollah. The 2006 Lebanon War, also called the 2006 Israel–Hezbollah War, ended in military stalemate. Iran continued to support Hezbollah. The beginning of the ongoing Gaza–Israel conflict in June 2006 which Iran was involved with. Israel’s ongoing efforts to stop Iranian nuclear program. Iran grows major spheres of influence in the Middle East which influenced the formation of the Arab−Israeli alliance. Long history with those two.
