China's First 7nm GPU Nears Mass Production, Pics Emerge

Shanghai Tianshu Intellectual Semiconductor Co. (Tianshu Zhixin) announced Wednesday that it's nearing "mass production and commercial delivery" of Big Island, China's first domestically produced 7nm general-purpose GPU (GPGPU).

Tianshu Zhixin said in January that BI was made using an unidentified 7nm process node and 2.5D chip-on-wafer-on-substrate (CoWoS) packaging. On Wednesday, it confirmed our suspicion that BI was made using TSMC's 7nm FinFET process.

It also shared a little more information about what people can expect from BI when it starts to ship.

Tianshu Zhixin claimed that BI offers "nearly twice the performance of mainstream manufacturers' products" at a lower power consumption while also offering a more attractive price-to-performance ratio.

Yes bitcoin - CCP produces 80% of the world’s bitcoins. Now they can make even more even cheaper, since they don’t have to buy someone else’s GPUs

What US company gave the CCP the technology to develop this chip in return for using china’s slave labor pool to reduce their production cost for the chips they were making at the time of the technology transfer?

All of them ...

Re: "What US company gave the CCP the technology?"

More likely an elite USA university or government lab.

China has hundreds of students in elite USA graduate programs or doing internships at elite research labs.

Insane.

Trump and the so called Department of Justice began cracking down on this at the end of his term, but too little, too late.

At least we can find slight comfort in the fact that almost all of China's advanced technology has been stolen or copied from someone else.

[Biden killed a Korean battery plant here. He’s a job killer and tax raiser and a immigrant coyote CEO. His legacy will be an epic disaster.]

Don't tell the WokeTopians. They're too busy watching PC trash out of Hollywood and watching "the news" for their latest information propaganda.

Yep - lots of money pouring through there.

Lots of American small businesses that could not compete.

I’ve said before, the only businesses that will survive the Covid thing will be gas stations, some fast food places, grocery stores and Walmart.

Not a lot of GPU mining after ethereum goes to proof-of-stake.

No bitcoin mining with GPUs, all ASICs now. There is some use for GPUs for other coins https://www.whattomine.com/gpus but ETH will go to proof-of-stake and eliminate the need for any special HW.
