Its not that what he said wasn’t true, its what he left out that makes it untrue.

“Matt Gaetz is NOT in need of bad publicity, and I’m in need of $25 million to save Robert Levinson,”
“...if he decides not to help us, he’ll never hear from me again,”
Let me rephrase...
if he decides TO help us, he’ll never hear from me again
or
if he decides TO pay the extortion money, he’ll never hear from me again
