I am confident that in a pinch, Americans are more like Greeks and Poles than Russians.

You had better hope not because that was the point of reviewing the negative side of Greek and Polish history.

Both were divided, punished by the Powerful reducing them to in-consequence, and the Powerful Actors on both sides went on to dismount the "Crocodile" without consequence.

Enough Power, applied effectively, eliminates negative consequences no matter which side you are on.

Stick around, we need some honest input on Russian and Slavic issues, opinions and activities.

You have taken my comments out of context. I find much to admire in Greek and Polish history in ancient and modern times alike. Relatively small nations with powerful enemies, they nevertheless persisted in their long histories in a love of freedom that drew the admiration of the Western world. And it is to the Greeks that we owe the classic insight that the secret of happiness is freedom, and the secret of freedom is courage.

As a personal point, I had a great uncle in Poland who, as a retired farmer, became a courier for Rural Solidarity and was murdered by the communist secret police. Such a murder indicated that he refused to betray his loyalty to Solidarity. How many Americans in their 80s would take such risks and embrace death to help free their country? And can one properly disparage such courage and sacrifice while also professing one's own patriotism? I think not.

My observations on the Effective Use of Power and that the use of Power determines whom is and whom is not a Criminal was in no way related to your personal feelings about the value of ethnic or national groups.

It was simply an assertion that any group has negative as well as positive traits coupled with the historic fact that fallen Empires have not been rebuilt by those that built them or anyone else.

Nor were your comments taken out of context as Power, Effectively Used, always makes the user a Saint, regardless of whom that person is.

Additionally there was no discussion of ordinary INDIVIDUALS, only particularly powerful ones such as Putin, Clinton, Obama, Brown, et all in my comments about character.

Finally I never attacked or disparaged you personally, or any particular Greek or Polish person or Hero as you have me.

In a prior post (No. 38 on this thread) you asserted that "the Greeks . . . excelled at bending over for the Ottomans and their successors in Turkey to this day, and and have become Europe's laziest and most unproductive Marxists." Then you claimed that "enough WWII poles fought for and supported the Nazis that Western Ukraine was carved out of Poland at the end of the war."

Both claims are false and disparaging. Your claim that I attacked or disparaged you is also false.

The genuine bravery and accomplishments of Greeks and Poles deserve credit. And we seem to agree that Marxism is the bane of both.

Both claims are false

See, there ya go, both are true and historically accurate, but they don't fit the narrative of your feelings so you refuse to see them.

Turkey holds historically Greek territory, and Ukraine holds historically Polish territory because neither can take it back.

Get back to me when they do.

You seem to advocate a strict blood and soil understanding of what constitutes a valid nation. Yet no country in Europe can now pass your test, not even today’s slimmed down Germany, nor Britain minus the Irish Republic. Yet Poland, Greece, and Ireland are all nevertheless now enjoying a secure sense of nationhood, with all three prosperous and independent. For small nations in blood soaked Europe, it doesn’t get much better — even if they have put aside revanchism.
