Fifth Ammendment: "nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

Could someone point me to the provision of the US Code which authorizes the CDC to issue an order such as this?

Asking for a friend.

How does the CDC get to decide this? Who did we vote for in the CDC? Is this part of the “emergency powers” that have been abused by fascist governors?

Rent regulation and eviction ban is another socialistic idea imported to the US.
It leads to housing shortage as nobody will build any new apartments and slowly liquidate the old ones.
The communist way to evict somebody is to just leave the place to the elements. Mold, bed bugs, roaches, termites, clogged toilets, leaky roofs... At some point, the tenants find the place uninhabitable and move out.
Coming to America!

Just because times are hard for one group doesn’t make it OK for them to take from another group. And that’s precisely what the eviction moratorium does, by transferring the full weight of economic loss from renters to landlords.

Orange Man bad.

Landlord bad.

Nope. Because it doesn’t exist. At least one court agrees. See https://www.jdsupra.com/legalnews/ohio-federal-judge-rules-against-cdc-s-5556372/

AND...landlords still need to pay mortgages, property taxes, water/sewer/trash pick up etc etc etc etc. on time, no relief for them.

The people that still owe a year or so back rent, thriftily put the money aside so they can pay it now, right?/s

The eviction moratorium is the same as the business cloture/restriction rules... efforts by the Deep State and their political allies to DEVASTATE THE “KULAK” CLASS. They hate small businesses.

Think how many millions will bail in the middle of the night instead of paying back rent

My guess is that landlords will not be able to evict for “covid back rent”.

“Normally, renters that were unable to pay their rent would simply need to move to more affordable housing.”

Not true in today’s America. Every city and town laments the lack of “affordable” housing and wants to use taxpayer money to subsidize more and more people. It just isn’t fair that one person have something better than another, and we certainly can’t expect them to work or sacrifice to have it. Society must give it to them. We already live in a socialist country in case people haven’t noticed.

Ding, ding, ding!

An economist wrote a book about how the reason Latin America is so poor is due to a lack of property rights. We have lost that and also freedom of association. Looks like it’s all downhill from here.

If certain people are released from paying rent due to the WuFlu, then it’s only fair that property owners be released from paying property taxes for the same reason!
It’s only “fair”!

If there is a moratorium on rent, there should be a corresponding moratorium on mortgages.
