And a good ID (driver license, other state ID, A-card, whatever) was absolutely necessary. They wouldn't vaccinate without first seeing an ID and entering a driver license number, Social Security number, A-card number, etc.
"Is there any central clearing house keeping a record of who has had a coronavirus vaccine? If not and it is completely relying on people to maintain a little white card, I think there’s going to be a huge business in counterfeit cards."
It appears that there might be a database. The answers to the short questionnaire before getting vaccinated go to the "v-safe" CDC website. Then the person who administers the shot enters something afterwards on a computer of some kind (sometimes a small, WiFi enabled hand-held). Name and date of birth are included, but I don't know whether the info stays with your local health provider or pharmacy, or the CDC.
Granted, the conspiracy theory kooks will make crazy hay with this info, too, but it doesn't really matter. Each person is free to take the vaccination or not. Looks from the numbers so far, that enough people will be vaccinated to stop the epidemic.
