A lot of this is just crazy people acting out. I was punched on the street in San Francisco by a gibbering (white) fellow a couple of weeks ago. He almost knocked me down.
And I don’t look Asian.
The celebrated SF case where the Chinese woman beat up her attacker was something like this, a random nut hitting whomever was closest.
This one sounds like it was a nutcase too.
It is another "copy-cat" situation.
They should downplay it or do very simple reporting.
They seem to want more of it.

The best the media can hope for is a black guy with a white-sounding name. Then they can use the name and no pic, like the Capitol incident today.

if the suspect was white the headline would read: White Man Sucker Punches Asian. Since that is not the headline, it is safe to assume the perp is black. It is similar to today’s cop killing in DC today, if the perp was white his race would be in the headline.

Exactly! How come they can identify the victim as an “Asian man” but the attacker is an unidentifiable “stranger”.

These attacks are inevitable as Asians are imported to fill the growing No Man’s Land between the urban cores and the shrinking white population. Years ago these would be white victims, but they’ve all left - most safely beyond the reach of the unassimilated Simbas.
These victims are blameless (though naïve); I have no sympathy for the foreign shopkeepers who are in business to harvest our wealth transfers from the gibsmedat population. If they can’t be bothered to ask themselves why all of the American shopkeepers have left an area, or why so many businesses have bulletproof glass, then shame on them.
In other words, a conspiracy.
If there were investigative reporters worth a good curse this would have been exposed a long time ago.
When white folks are targeted this is called the knockout game.
When asian folks are targeted it’s called hate crime.
Either way it’s feral yoots behaving like wild monkeys.
