The sudden fascination from the government about “revealing the truth about UFOs” makes it sound like they might be thinking an upcoming event will actually happen (it will; though people debate the timing).

That being said, it made me think of 1 Thessalonians 5:3.
I’m guessing whoever wrote that episode had read that passage.

What better ruse to use against those who remain on the Earth, after refusing Christ and being left to face 7 years of judgment, than to stoke abject fear on top of billions suddenly, right - before - their eyes missing, and say that an imminent second wave of extraterrestrial attack was going to happen unless everyone on the planet submitted to, and eventually worshipped a very intelligent, crafty, charismatic young man who pops on the world scene and tells all that all is well, the aliens have gone home?
