It has been smart in cutting politicians and leaders into business transactions between Chinese and U.S. companies. It is easy to "compensate" (i.e., bribe) people for trade relationships between companies. Keep in mind that Chinese companies are basically agents of the CCP. It looks completely above board until it is time to call the "debt" by asking for actions that sometimes invisibly work to China's advantage.
Like the last U.S. election for example. Many questions have arisen about the relationship between China and, say, Gov Kemp and Lt Gov Raffensperger of GA.
