Over the years, courts have carved out an ENORMOUS exception to defamation laws called ‘rhetorical hyperbole.’

I wouldn’t say it’s impossible for a person - particularly a public personality, like Carano - to prevail against this kind of slander. But, it’s about as close to impossible as anything can be in a legal context.

Carano should accuse Heitkamp of having a secret Nazi fetish. After all: Hyperbole!
