A shrinking percentage of Americans are expressing reluctance to get a Covid-19 vaccine, a positive sign for the efforts to get shots in the arms of enough people to reach herd immunity.
The findings come from the latest release of a large-scale survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau and developed in concert with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Center for Health Statistics. The most recent survey gauged responses from nearly 80,000 adults between March 3 and March 15.
The survey found about 17% of adults said they would either definitely or probably not get vaccinated, down from 22% in January. The decline was almost entirely due to fewer respondents saying they probably won’t get the shot; the share saying they definitely won’t has remained essentially unchanged in the past two months.
Reluctance to get vaccinated remains highest in the South. But many Southern states have seen a steep decline in hesitancy since the January survey, particularly Alabama, Louisiana, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Another finding: vaccine hesitancy among Black Americans has diminished considerably. Black Americans are still the most likely to say they will probably or definitely not get vaccinated. But in January, Black Americans were 13 percentage points more likely than white Americans to say that; as of mid-March, the gap had shrunk to five points.
Still, getting younger Americans vaccinated remains a challenge...

If you consider the number who have been vaccinated plus those who already have the anti-bodies as determined by positive testing, would the total be sufficient to establish the “herd.”

The above doesn’t reflect the many devastating permanent complications caused so far by COVID19 vaccinations. I’ll take my chances rather than court trouble.
For me? No Way.
Anecdotal but from everyone I have talked with and my gut tell me the number is closer to a third. Probably 2/3rds of young people will NOT get it.
I am going on 64 with a few health issues so me getting one was a no brainer but I can certainly understand younger healthy people taking a pass.

Same here. However, a lot of people are all talk and no action.
Late last summer I drove from eastern Idaho to Seattle with a friend that says he’s as disgusted with this lockdown nonsense as I am. We’re both 67. He’s constantly posting articles about it on facebook.
However, on our drive, I never once wore a mask. Yet he never left the car without one, and never took it off until he got back in the car. In fact, before our trip was over he tried to ding me for not wearing a mask. In a Love’s parking lot I had to IMPLORE him to understand that they are political theater and he’s empowering them by wearing one.
I simply could not believe exactly how big the chasm was separating his words from his actions.
I’m 73, will not take the vaccine. Period.
Have been exposed in past, may have had a mild case a year ago.
For me, it is not worth the risk.

The poll says 17% either definitely won’t or probably won’t. That means 83% will get it. That ought to be enough even without those who’ve already had it.
A few weeks ago, I had a slightly contentious discussion with a leader at my church. I asked what the end game was for them capitulating to the atheist Governor and his unconstitutional edicts?
He said “The vaccine.”
I said, “When are you kicking me out of the church?”
He simply had no concept that people would not be lining up like sheep. He has no idea how many people at the church are not getting the shot.

#1 no evidence of long lasting immunity(>6 months)
#2 The virus mutates readily and the vaccines only protect againt some mutations. IOW the 77% immunity touted is shortlived and will be less & less effective as variants spread in the USA
We are not immune to the common cold and we will not have immunity against COVID infections. We might have herd immunity to one variant just as that variant has run it’s natural course and new variants take over the business of infecting people. This chasing of COVID vaccine instead of identifying effective treatments is a cynical, money making power grabbing scheme by the party of lies and other confidence tricksters.
In my state, the face diapers are mandatory. I refuse to ever wear one outdoors. I don’t put it on until I’m well in the building and it comes off before I exit.

This vaccination rollout is basically a wide scale experiment by coercion. If this were any other drug seeking approval, the number of deaths & complications, coupled with the high survival rate of the condition being treated, would mandate failure of the drug to gain approval.
Our church’s head pastor was already a germiphobe. He locked us down so tight that about half the members simply left. I’m talking people that have been there for multiple generations.
I simply stayed and complained. I never wear a mask there. I also play bass in the worship band.
