Concur in your assessment of JFK; he was not one of ten best presidents as biased historians will say, but he was definitely in the teens. He fought against communism, appointed Byron White (a conservative) to the Supreme Court, and would not go along with a lot of the progressives’ plans while in office. He and Nixon came to Congress together and remained good friends even after the 1960 election until the Bay of Pigs, when JFK probably rightly felt betrayed by the Deep State. I have no use for his youngest brother but he wasn’t him.
And Johnson had him killed.............
