LONDON (Reuters) - Prime Minister Boris Johnson told lawmakers on Tuesday that Britain’s vaccine success was due to capitalism and greed, The Sun newspaper reported amid tensions with the European Union over supplies.
“The reason we have the vaccine success is because of capitalism, because of greed my friends,” The Sun newspaper quoted him as telling a group of lawmakers.
Johnson’s Downing Street office declined to offer an immediate comment when contacted by Reuters.
On Tuesday, an EU official said the European Commission will extend EU powers to potentially block COVID-19 vaccine exports to Britain and other areas with much higher vaccination rates, and to cover instances of companies backloading contracted supplies.

Being stuck with the NHS would make me jealous, too.
If it makes you feel any better, Boris, we’ll likely be just as screwed soon.
So what is the problem? Greed and competition is what drives us to be our best. It’s the losers that cry for equal outcomes because they are to lazy or stupid to compete.

How can a private compoany with limited funds get a product to market in less than 8 months, yet the government with unlimited funds can’t provide basic healthcare to its people?
One of the worst quotes from Obama was when he said that no CEO has ever made a decision on behalf of his local community. The arrogance of the gov thinking how altruistic and competent they are. They only keep shareholders (tax payers) based on forced compliance.
Terrible phrasing, even though the intent is good. It is not greedy to seek healthy profits. It’s logical. Greed is the pursuit of healthy profits at the expense of important factors like safety of workers and consumers.

Of course, the virtue signalers had a cow over the thought of first preserving a Western Civilization, the science and infrastructure upon which the world relies, with Angela Eagle quick to the tweet: “Altruism not greed will get us through this.” As she proposes a paradox that only Western science and infrastructure could save the rest of the world.
You can almost see the unicorns pracing and butterflies dancing in their empty heads.
As people in hell are still waiting for that “altruistic” ice water.
Channeling his inner Gordon Gecko.
And he was right!
