At least three fully immunized Hawaii residents have contracted COVID-19, though the vaccines appear to have prevented serious illness.
None of the three individuals who received two doses of the vaccine and later tested positive became severely ill or transmitted the virus to others, the Department of Health said in an email.
"This number is not outside what we would expect with nearly 165, 000 people in Hawaii who are fully vaccinated, " said DOH spokesman Brooks Baehr. "A vaccine with 95 % efficacy will protect 95 out of 100 people. This is another reason we must all do our part to keep case counts low. The lower the prevalence of COVID in the community, the lower the chance any of us—even those who have been vaccinated—will be infected."
One of the cases was an Oahu health care worker who contracted the virus after a recent trip to the mainland. The worker had completed the two-dose regimen for the COVID-19 vaccine in early January, and traveled to multiple mainland cities about a month later.
After returning to Hawaii, the individual and a travel companion were notified of their positive test results. Neither developed any symptoms or infected close contacts, the Health Department said, adding that laboratory specimens could not be obtained for sequencing to identify a variant of the virus.
Health officials have stressed that being vaccinated for COVID-19 does not guarantee that a person will not contract COVID-19. However, the vaccines are still preventing severe disease and saving lives, said Health Director Libby Char.
"Nothing is 100 %. The really important thing is that being vaccinated prevents us from serious illness, hospitalization and death, " she said. "It doesn't mean that you are completely immune and free from ever getting COVID. Some people won't develop enough antibodies."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the vaccines in the United States are "effective at preventing COVID-19 disease, especially severe illness and death." But CDC officials caution that "we're still learning how effective the vaccines are against variants of the virus that causes COVID-19."
It’s a not a vaccine if it doesn’t vaccinate the recipient. It’s something, but it’s not a vaccine.
A friend of mine is an ER Nurse in Florida. She contracted Covid-19 after her second dose of the the Moderna vaccine.
Hey!
Maybe they got the coronavirus FROM the vaccccinne.
They don't know that. The three infected could have been just fine either way. But it is time that the CDC and FDA be straight with the American people about what these vaccines really do. If they even know. Because when you think of vaccine, you think "I won't catch the disease".
Just remember this above all, you cannot trust anything you see on mass media. Dig deeper on your own.
Awesome!!!! Where do I sign???...../s
RE: She contracted Covid-19 after her second dose of the the Moderna vaccine.
Yes, but how did she do healthwise? Was the illness mild? Asymptomatic? how was it?
Exactly. The ast majority of people survive it just fine, with only mild symptoms. When they can show that the elderly with serious medical conditions are not betting the virus seriously bad, than that will be something to write home about.
Wish they’d be intellectually honest and state that most people survive the virus without serious complications, and just leave it at that. They want us to “follow the science”, but why should we when they’ve been deceitful and not up front about things all aLong?
PROVE IT!
And WOW I can’t spell tofay
It’s Not A Vaccine
Government is the disease
You are the cure
99.997% of the time
Which makes you more effective than Moderna
being 95% Effective on a disease with a 99.98% survival rate is nothing to write home about.
“three fully immunized”
I stopped reading after i read this drivel

i.e. this is anecdotal.
Won’t be anee b’ere fomorrow

This is akin to ny’s “safe act” where they claim “gun crimes would have been so much worse had we not enacted the safe act” yet gun crimes didn’t drop, and I fact went up during the period.
Now they are insinuating the three people would have had serious infection if they hadn’t taken the vaccine, however, as stated, most people survive just fine without the vaccine.
Same principle. Can’t prove a negative I think is the saying
This is their “lipstick on a pig” moment. The people were vaccinated - both shots - and still got Rona
They can’t polish this turd, so they are trying to roll it in glitter. I’m not biting.
Maybe I’d be more interested if they rolled it in bacon. :)
Lo. I can’t make that out. Won’t be any beer tomorrow?
