This afternoon US time, reports from dozens, then hundreds of users on the Samsung subreddit started coming in, complaining of apps crashing on their phones, constantly and seemingly at random. Google wrote and owns the Android OS, so its is not surprising at all. Phone manufactures have nothing to do with the coding of AOS.
Which phone manufacture’s brand you buy will all issue the same results depending on the version of AOS it is running on.

For what it’s worth Arlo Security cam went wacko when they updated the App. Still messed up. Both iOS/Android.

Simple. It’s a phone. Use it for calls. Don’t add apps.
Yesterday afternoon on my Android BlackBerry Priv, I wasn’t able to text or do other things. Got message, “Unfortunately, Message+ has stopped working”. Got it for Calendar, BBM, and other things. I tried all the normal stuff — clear cache, clear data, power off/on, etc. — still no help.
Called Verizon who said it wasn’t me, it’s a global Google issue and would be fixed by morning.
Knowing that updates often make matters worse, and I had just updated, I uninstalled updates to Chrome, Calendar, etc. It didn’t help.
This morning I went to this site:

Posters had different fixes, some of which weren’t fixes. I finally went to Play Store and installed updates to Google Chrome and Web View. It seems to have worked.
In any case, it’s such a PITA that I’m going to move my SIM card to my old phone (BB Classic) which doesn’t have any Google crap on it.

But I still can't play Spider Solitaire on it.
I fixed it on an older Samsung by disabling Chrome.
Kroger web site crashed due to vaccine seekers signing up, Some dope told me to put a mask on, I just pointed to my ears and said I can’t hear you!
I wear twin hearing aids due to Meniere’s meds killing my hearing. 2nd round destroyed it leaving me no coping skills. You are NOT INFORMED this will happen, I’d rather have my hearing and put up with the Vertigo crap.
Fixed itself in the night in my case. No apps worked with email and Delta app being very important today.

From your reply, I don’t think you understood what I was saying: you are running the Google OS they named Android - version does not alter that fact. You will always be their “creature” as long as you use Android. The only other alternatives are phones running some Windows OS or Apple’s iPhone.
