I am in the real world, developing the software it takes to keep social media sites up and running.

If Gab has been able to do all that, with little money and very few staff, plus total war against Gab from the far left Big Tech lunatics like Amazon etc, what makes you think President Trump, with vastly more resources and over 75 million hard core voters who voted for him in November, cannot set up a social media site?

I know the problems and limitations Gab has had and is having right now.

I know more about Gab than you do.
I have been a member for over 2 years and I am there several hours a day. It's a great social media site and in my book a heck of a lot superior to Twitter, which has vastly more resources.

They haven't been able to do it yet. When they were inundated with new users in January, they could not scale and the site went down or was unresponsive. They were subject to a massive hack just last month which exposed passwords and private messages. They are up and running now because they have a relatively small number of active users.

I support Gab - social media sites which do not censor are badly needed. They seem determined to eventually build out their infrastructure to support millions of users securely and reliably and I'm sure they will some day. But they aren't there yet - it takes time and lots of development to build a scalable and secure platform. It will take time, money and lots of development for Trump to do it, too - especially since he will not be able to leverage AWS, Azure or any of the existing cloud platforms. It's not going to be easy.
