The husband who survived the Atlanta spa shootings that killed his wife says cops treated him like a suspect instead of a grieving victim — keeping him handcuffed for hours without telling him his spouse was dead.
“They had me at the police station for all that time until they investigated who was responsible or what had happened,” Mario Gonzalez said during an interview with the Spanish-language news site Mundo Hispanico. “In the end, they told me my wife had died.
“They knew I was her husband,” Gonzalez said. “Then they told me she was dead when I wanted to know before.

Sad!
Sorry Asians are the flavor of the month. Our enemies have made it clear that nobody else counts.
Hummm..What is the rest of the story? I am NOT defending the cops. But there are three sides to every story.
Of course, the husband was a suspect as the police did their investigation.
That takes time.
This is sensational nonsense, meant to create anti-police emotions.
Agree.
And anti white animosity.
It was wrong and illegal for them to arrest him. They’re guilty as hell, and they know it.
Armchair policeman like you are disgusting.
One spouse is often the main suspect when the other spouse is killed.
But, please enlighten us with your deep knowledge that clearly shows the illegality of detaining a suspect..
I have read the OP three times. No where does it say he was arrested. Can you provide a source that says he was arrested and not just detained?
Yea everybody knows husbands, ex-husbands and boyfriends never go into their ex-spouse or ex-girlfriends place of business and shoots them. They’re no threat to their ex at all! I only worked two homicides in my short LEO career and both involved an ex husband killing his wife. One was shot in the parking lot of her place of business and the other was behind the counter. Both were killed by ex-husbands.
The police obviously thought he WAS a suspect.
the husband is the first suspect in a married women’s death, always has been always will be. next in line is boyfriend.
You are confusing “arrested” with “accused”. If cops put handcuffs on you, or otherwise make it very clear that you are not free to leave, then you are very much under arrest
https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/justifies-arrest-probable-cause.html
“An arrest occurs when police officers take a suspect into custody. An arrest is complete as soon as the suspect is no longer free to walk away from the arresting police officer, a moment that often comes well before the suspect actually arrives at a jail.”
Arrest versus being detained
If he was handcuffed then he was arrested, even if the cop did not say “you’re under arrest”. If this was done without the police having reasonable grounds for asserting “probable cause”, then it was indeed an illegal arrest.
Sorry, but you are wrong.
If police are on the scene of a crime, they can handcuff anyone they wish to detain.
Often, people who are on-site are handcuffed while the police investigate the scene.
Your example is detainment on the street, not at an active crime scene.
Being a spouse of a victim is not sufficient cause for arrest. I don’t like corruption. Corrupt public officials belong in the federal hoosegow.
