Dumber than a box of rocks, is the only way to describe Gates, for such stupidity. Heat pumps MIGHT reduce C02 emissions IF electricity came from wind turbines and solar panels, but now it comes from burning coal. That means heat pumps actually make it worse.
If Gates were also advocating nuclear power, it would make sense. Since he's not, he's actually making it far worse, trading cleaner natural gas for coal fired electricity.
I know of somebody who was working on an energy plan for a northern Midwest community. He was advocating for replacing gas furnaces with electric baseboard strips and heat pumps.
I pointed out to him that:
1.) we have -20 winters up here, and
2.) how often have you experienced power outages versus losing your gas?
He didn’t have an answer, but it clearly blew in one ear and out the other...too in love with his own ideas....
