Climeworks is partnered with Audi they have taken CO2 from the air added water split via electrolysis into hydrogen and turned it diesel , petrol and jet fuel fascinating technology. The idea is to use wind or solar power that going to waste if is generated in a period of low demand and store that excess as hydrocarbons. The same tech could also be used to take nuclear power and turn it into diesel. They report a 70% efficiency from power to fuel quite high. Petrol has 34.4 kWh per US gallon at it’s HHV nuclear power in countries that don’t let environmentalism get in the way can be had at a levelled cost of electricity of 1.5 cents per kWh using government capital and just under double that for private capital. 3 cents at 70% efficiency is just under a $1.50 in energy costs. Even granting equal costs in capital repayment, and O&M for the power to fuel module that’s only $3 bucks a gallon for unlimited nuclear powerenter fuel from thin air. The amounts of recoverable uranium is hundreds of years worth at under $200 lb yellowcake , seawater uranium recovery added thousands of years of resources the Japanese are.nearing commercialization of seawater recovery at $250 lb or less they lack domestic uranium it makes sense for them to mine the oceans right off the island’s shore.

Interesting.

If diesel or gasoline get produced from air and water, what then would be the point of having an electric vehicle?
