California ranks among worst in the U.S. on vaccine equity, CDC says
SFgate ^ | March 19, 2021 | Amy Graff

California falls near the bottom of the list in a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention looking at the equitability of COVID-19 vaccine distribution.

California is ranked among the five worst states — along with Kansas, Maryland, Idaho and New Hampshire — in distributing shots to the communities that have seen the worst infection rates during the pandemic.

The report published Wednesday used data on vaccine coverage — the number of people who had received at least one dose — in the first two-and-a-half months of the U.S. vaccine rollout, from Dec. 14, 2020 to March 1, 2021. At this time, the CDC data revealed that 51,873,700 people across the country received at least one dose. Analysis looked at how many of those people who were vaccinated lived in communities identified as vulnerable by the CDC's social vulnerability index, which is calculated using 15 indicators including area poverty, household demographics and minority status.

A state-level analysis examined data from 49 states and the District of Columbia, and found that Montana and Arizona have so far done the best job in getting the vaccine to racial and ethnic groups that have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic and people who are economically and socially disadvantaged.

*** "We're committed to the 40% overlay because it's the right thing to do," Newsom said. "It's not only the right thing to do, you've got to look at the disease burden. It's been overwhelming in the lower quartile. It's been overwhelming in communities of color, underserved communities. And so we have a moral obligation. And I would also argue that obligation as it relates to our economic recovery, to address those that have been disproportionately impacted, that we also disproportionately rely on as essential workers in terms of the vaccination protocols."

Finally something I can be proud of! Kalifornia bureaucrats have done their best to ensure that white males are vaccinated last, apparently without success.

California isn’t yet liberal enough.

CLEARLY proving that California is a RACIST state. Sound as if they need some CONSERVATIVE leadership to set thing right there.

Vaccinating people on the basis of race is not equity.

Somehow one suspects that "Veterans who served honorably" is not among their 15 "equity" criteria.

It keeps getting more difficult to define “winning”.

I am eligible for the vaccine based on two criteria and can’t get a vaccination in my state. Our governor is too busy catering to the teachers’ unions and worrying about the homeless. I finally had to cross into a neighboring state to get it.

"California ranks among worst in the U.S. on vaccine equity, CDC says"
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Patriots are reminded that the states have never amended the Constitution to expressly protect politically correct vaccine equity, or dictate INTRAstate healthcare policy.

So if the non-elected bureaucrats of the constitutionally undefined CDC took the oath to protect and defend the Constitution, then they probably need to lose their jobs under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment for their politically correct attempt to help unconstitutionally expand the powers of the already unconstitutionally big federal government imo.

"14th Amendment, Section 3: No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same [emphasis added], or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."

“Somehow one suspects that “Veterans who served honorably” is not among their 15 “equity” criteria.”

The VA has doses available for Veterans registered with the VA health system, and their supply is direct from the federal government and not subject to distributions to the states. It only requires contacting them for an appointment.

CA just moved 40% of the vaccines to the “underserved” areas. A few weeks ago. And now counties are “punished” by not being able to reopen further until 2 (and then 4) million “underserved” are vaccinated.

I’m not 100% sure what is going on, but all the wealthy white seniors I know (and I know plenty) managed to get vaccinated, but only by making appts to travel to the ‘hood (90 minutes away at times) and get it there. They have to put themselves in physical danger and travel to high-crime areas to get the vaccine. The wealthy suburbs have no appointments.

I suspect the wealthy white seniors are also better at making appts and keeping appts than some of the “underserved” are.

We got vax at the Oakland Coloseum parking lot, the next county over. Signup up online with a code, did not lie, got a time slot 2 days later. In a state of 39 million people it is impossible to direct the vax to any specific group if you want to roll it out ASAP. The whole premise is just silly. But they have to cater to the PC crowd.

There are many logical reasons that vax rates are lower for poor and minorities. They don’t have online access, they don’t trust the government, they can’t take time off work, no habla ingles, etc. I am sure it would be difficult to round them the farm workers as they would flee expecting la migra.

The dirty secret of California is that its all loud virtue signaling. The wealthy, the pension vampires, and the unions feast on the impoverished serfs.

They feel guilty about it, so they continually increase the volume on their virtue signaling.

Well, that’s all well and good, but the enemy does not care about the Constitution. Mere words on paper, a living document.

I’m here, in Los Angeles, and California is doing everything it can, short of explicitly rationing access on racial lines. A quick summarry:

1) the state is sending out “access codes” to approved non-profits serving “underserved” communities (ie, anyone other than whites and asians) for preferred access to the jab
2) Private companies, like CVS, are being held to strict compliance with the state’s eligibility guidelines (eg, if you claim a health issue, you need a note from your doctor to verify that.) but
3) at the county-run centers (In places like Inglewood), they will simply take your word for it.

This is just preformative for rationing care once the enemy imposes “medicare for all” as the only medical care option for the masses. Of course, the Silicon Valley elite will still be able to obtain their private doctors, but for anyone with a net worth under $100MM, it’s everyone into the same risk pool. They are watching, and calibrating their methods. At present, too many old whites and asians are figuring out the gaff, and just driving to the ghetto to get the shot.

But after this phony crisis passes, the lessons will be applied, and more effective methods will be found to reduce the resources expended on the “wrong” people. And if you’re reading this on FR, you’re definitely one of the wrong people.

There are many, many Vets, just like me, who are not registered with the VA. My private insurance is just fine; and I won't stand in front of a fellow vet who needs the VA services more than I.

Remember when California was the best in everything? The Golden State?

My how times change.

Now you can't walk down the sidewalk without stepping in human excrement or tripping over drug paraphernalia--the roads are just one big pothole--and don't get me started on the schools!

Farrakhan is telling blacks not to get the vaccine, it will sterilize them. The similar rumors that it is toxic are so common that there are mainstream articles saying we should forgive blacks who don’t want the shot, because they were historically subject to discrimination ....

So whites have to get the shot and blacks don’t ... but whites are evil if they’re getting it.
