House Democrats voted unanimously Wednesday, along with four Republicans, to "resuscitate" the ERA, even though the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, who long advocated the plan, admitted it was dead and gone.
"This was ERA’s poorest showing in the House in 50 years," said Douglas D. Johnson, senior policy advisor to the National Right to Life Committee and director of its ERA Project. "Only 52% of voting House members supported ERA today, compared to 94% in 1971, and 56% in 2020. Today’s tally was 62 votes below the two-thirds margin that the Constitution requires to perform grown-up constitutional amending, as opposed to today’s cheap political theater."
House Joint Resolution 17 purports to go back in time and "remove the deadline" for ratification in the ERA resolution approved by Congress in 1972 by the required two-thirds votes.

Problem for the liberals is that women are getting all the preferential treatment now and men would be able to use such an amendment to their advantage.
But it won’t be used that way. “Heads I win, tails you lose” is the game leftists play.
It will also subject all young women to the draft.
Shouldn’t we now have 56 ERAs?
Instead, they are now trying to implement all the points one by one.
The point they’re going after is that it isn’t dead if they deem it not dead. They will just do what they want and make US fight to prove them wrong, buying themselves time and bullying the national archives to record it as “passed.” Having possession, they will then have the advantage in defending it from being overturned. There are still a lot of leftist judges in place, and the left is expert at judge shopping to their advantage.
They’re going to “deem” it ratified, or some such unconstitutional bullshit.
WAR has mostly replaced ERA.
The ERA is widely used in MLB. It’s one of the best ways to measure pitcher performance.
Pedro’s Equal Rights Average was so unbelievably low that one year. Then he had to go commit Violins on TV by tossing poor Don Zimmer around like a ragdoll and a fan has to wonder if he was worth all the sdmirstion. It’s a real dilemma.
If they get this through, feminist activists are going to regret it. They have more to lose than men do.
Phyllis Schlafly and her organization successfully defeated it as an amendment to the Constitution. She predicted all the crap we are now seeing.
Imagine how bad it would have been if we had had to fight the deadly crumbs of the ERA since the 1970s. I feel like we got a reprieve of sorts to fight the crap when we were more prepared knowledge-wise.
