How old are you? Going postal predates the internet by more than a decade. It originated in 1986 with a string of postal workers well “going postal” that string of mass murder happens before most of the people who invented social media were even born and the term predates them as well. The conspiracy loons are out in force today. How sad it must be to live thinking the big bad govt is out to get tham. Government is corrupt for sure but the tinfoil hat crowd takes the cake.
I don't know how that's relevant, however, I'm old enough to have been a postal employee for a decade already when a few crazies went in to take out the supervisors who'd been abusing them.
I remember one was also a guy being raped in court who took out his ex. She was a USPS employee, he wasn't.
Not so strangely, postal stupidvisors began treating their peons better for a few months after each incident, before reverting.
Bottom line. As with any factory, and that's all a postal place is, there will be disputes. Places like GM, Ford, etc. had much higher violence rates than Postal buildings, but it's a lot more newsworthy and fun to create a "going postal" myth, so that's what the media did.
I suppose my saying "social media" was wrong as that was not the origin, but it certainly is continuing to maintain the myth.
