PHOENIX – Former Nogales Mayor Marco Lopez became Arizona’s first formal candidate for governor in 2022, announcing his plans Tuesday.
Lopez, 42, a small business owner, served in the Obama administration and won the mayoral election in the border town when he was 22.
“I’m running for governor because I believe in the promise of Arizona—that Arizona is a place where anything is possible and every family has the chance to succeed, no matter who you are or where you come from,” the Democrat said in the press release announcing his candidacy.
Lopez grew up in Nogales and graduated from the University of Arizona.

"I’m running for governor because I believe that this is our land, gringo!"
!CUIDADO!
After the fiasco at the border, how does this guy win?
Makes me cringe at the thought.
Dominion.
Even Iran goof ball?
You got that right.
“...no matter who you are or where you come from...”
In other words, all illegal aliens welcome. No, thanks.
It seems Arizona was part of the the stop and steal so this clown has a good chance. It seems Arizona will be blue soon.
With Dominion and mail-in style organized voting, and gazillion new voters flooding over the border right now.
Ballots are in their language.
Maybe more like how can the left possibly lose, when they control the tabulation mechanics of every major population center, and they are flooding America with an insurmountable number of anti-American voters over the border.
