OAKLAND, Calif. - Police announced on Monday they made a second arrest in the homicide case of a 75-year-old Oakland resident who was out on a walk last week.
OPD said they arrested Elbert Britton, 56, on Friday. He was charged on Monday by the Alameda County District Attorney's office with special circumstance murder and robbery.

President Biden on Thursday evening condemned “vicious” hate crimes against Asian-Americans, who he said have been “attacked, harassed, blamed and scapegoated” during the coronavirus pandemic.
“They’re forced to live in fear for their lives just walking down streets in America,” Mr. Biden said during a prime-time address at the White House, marking a year since the coronavirus was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. “It’s wrong. It’s un-American, and it must stop.”
Asian-Americans have grappled with anxiety and fear as violence against them spiked during the pandemic. Activists and elected officials say the attacks were fueled early on in part by the rhetoric of former President Donald J. Trump, who frequently referred to the coronavirus as the “Chinese virus” because it originated in Wuhan, China. Mr. Trump has also blamed the Chinese government for the pandemic, saying Beijing failed to keep the virus from spreading beyond China’s borders.

Here is a story that has had me concerned for awhile, not getting much attention. 62 year old man stabs a 70 year old man - 10:00 in the morning. So many angles - stabbings seem to be increasing, it’s not just “gun violence” anymore. Black on black crime. The perp looks to be one of those words we’re no longer allowed to say (retarded) or homeless or both. Police are saying nothing about circumstances or motive, but have charged the perp with second degree murder, no bond. Anybody in that area have any insight?
I am happy to report that after considerable research, I have determined this ISN’T the person I feared it was. So I retract my plea for assistance. Nevertheless, it’s still a fact that someone lost his life in such a terrible way.
