You're right that it does still exist, but it's so incredibly uncommon at this point that most people don't think twice about it. It used to be a huge problem that parents feared. Just like polio.

Considering the growth in population over that same period, the massive drop demonstrates the value. The vaccines work. Many of the people alive today to claim otherwise are alive thanks to the vaccines they're denying work. Smallpox killed 500 million people worldwide in its last 100 years on Earth. After killing human beings for ~3,500 years, it was erased from the globe in one decade with a worldwide vaccination effort. You can't mutate your way out of that one.
