Haven’t had a hard line in over a decade. Need to get one for my conversion back to dial up. Kinda miss the dial up sounds............

This does NOT mean that from now on all internet access will be free for all, including Whitey.

They don’t mean “to all.” Whitey will continue to pay for internet as he is doing now. A charge will be added to the bill, as they did for telephones, and the money will provide free service for non-Whitey.

Of course, this will be in addition to reparations, high taxes and other discriminations that treat Whitey as a second class citizen.

“It’s one of the reasons I dropped my landline. ...”

We ditched landlines many years ago for VOIP lines (5 of them).

Saved us an immense amount of $$$ as two of them were business lines at over $100.00 per month each.

I think we pay about $30.00 for the five of them.

Just changed from AT&T post pay to AT&T prepay for three cell phones...more data and a savings of $50.00 a month.

You can imagine, given who the promoters of the bill are, that, just like the “stimulus” bill, the devil will not be in any of paragraphs relative the specific actions just to expand access to high speed Internet. The devil will be in the paragraphs that will impose permanent controls, under law, for all sorts of decisions by the Internet service providers, including controls to “insure” “net neutrality”.

I live in rural Florida on a farm. It's not near a major city or urban center.

And I have high speed internet.

This fallacy that rural America is stupid and dumb and does without modern conveniences, is what the democRATS are relying on to spend $94 BILLION of taxpayer money where none is needed.

That money will go right into the pockets of democRATS, just like most of the $1.9 TRILLION covid stimulus bill did.

Never believe what the democRATS say they are doing. It's is always a ruse to transfer wealth from the taxpayers into their pockets.

Yes. I watch free streams on unstable low-bandwidth but I’m not considered poor so I am not considered to be in a data bandwitch ghetto.

And the free streams only go up to 1080.

That’s $1000 per household, enough to buy each a $499 Starlink base unit and 5 months service of >100Mbps internet _anywhere_.

The Hoh tribe is showing how well that works (very) for a remote impoverished town.

That is the disinformation campaign being used to discourage discussion of biometric scanning of people on the streets with 5G technology. AI is scary these days.

And yet when AFBLMCCCP riots nobody saw nuttin’.

Hahahaha! I’d like to see it here. Some days I get all of 8 mbps. That isn’t a typo. We did better with dial up.

“Net neutrality”: you cannot downthrottle the bandwith of data use by twitter, facebook, Amazon, and netflix.

Not in Net Neurtality: protections against twitter, facebook, Amazon, and netflix downthrottling views of content they don’t agree with politically.

I’m not sure you weren’t being sarcastic, but they already have those.

If Government will be providing high-speed internet to all of these holmes, I mean homes, will they be putting a data hookup direct to NSA’s spy serverfarm?

LOL! Yup. Pay for the 100 and lucky to get 28. Signal loss in the airways apparently. Pretty sure the power/gas company get their signals from our meters at 1000 though. :-)

This is an attempt by the government to nationalize telecommunications as the costs to roll out HSI to the nation would bankrupt the companies. If the government nationalizes telecommunications then they can mandate how services can be used and what can or cannot be said, printed, stored, etc.
The government can also demand that they have backdoors into all encryption (they have this anyway, but it’s easier for them if they don’t have to hide that fact). This is why such a mandate cannot be allowed to pass.

I'm a veteran and the local VA facility where I get my medical care is bombarding me with emails, robo calls and begging me to come in anytime for the vaccine. No appointment necessary. Drive-up shots in the parking lot.

I don't know which vaccine of the three it is but I've decided that the risk of getting the disease is no greater than the unknown risk from getting a new vaccine, so I've decided to be a bystander and stand on the sidelines for now, watching all of the guinea pigs from afar.

Don't get me wrong. My VA is very good at what they do. Provide me with great treatment. But when it comes to the virus and the vaccine, if it ain't broke, I see no need to fix it. I can smell problems I don't need.

Me too. Went for my med shot I get every 90 days last week at our VA and twice got asked. Both folks knew I’d say no before I could completely answer. They both said they’re getting that a lot. I think I’ll stick with the 99+% survival rate for my category. :-)
