Correct me, but I think Smithfield (and several others these days) are owned by some Chinese outfit with an HQ in Hong Kong.

IIRC they bought up Tyson (maybe chicken group) and I think even Farmland.

They tried to mess with our food supply system. The Smithfield plant in S Dakota and the outbreak there. President Trump stopped it.

  FYI...

Pork Plant at Center of South Dakota’s Virus Outbreak Had Visit From CCP-Tied Owners April 16, 2020

Smithfield Foods, Inc., is a meat-processing company based in Smithfield, Virginia, in the United States, and a wholly-owned subsidiary of WH Group of China....Then known as Shuanghui Group, WH Group purchased Smithfield Foods in 2013 for $4.72 billion. It was the largest Chinese acquisition of an American company to date. The acquisition of Smithfield's 146,000 acres of land made WH Group, headquartered in Luohe, Henan province, one of the largest overseas owners of American farmland. Credit below to Freeper:CaptainPhilFan This WH Group also owns the following US brands:
Smithfield
Eckrich
Nathan’s
Farmland
Armour
Farmer JohnMorrell
Cook’s
Gwaltney
Carando
Margherita
Healthy Ones
Cracker Barrel
Cumberland Gap
and others.

It’s beyond horrifying that China has been allowed to run rampant thru the US and buy whatever they want. That so much of our food industry is owned by ChiCom, and that we pay our groceries with money that ends up in their pockets even if it wasn’t made in China.

Yep, unfortunately!

NO foreign country, and NO foreign countries’ companies, should EVER own/run/control/buy into/etc. NO American company. NEVER!!!
