Mexican drug cartels and human smugglers TAG 'asylum-seeking' migrants to the US with $500 colored wristbands that look like hospital bracelets to keep track of their movements

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has learned that migrants illegally crossing the border have been using a system of colored wristbands

The plastic wristbands were placed on the individuals by the drug cartels and human traffickers who ferried them over the Mexico-United States border

The bracelets were marked 'arrivals' or 'entries' in Spanish and were spotted lying along the Rio Grande shore near the Texas border town of Penitas

A Honduran migrant told Reuters that he paid $500 to a criminal group in Reynosa, Mexico, for a wristband The wristbands, he said, protect him and other migrants against kidnapping or extortion

Mexican drug cartels and human smugglers are using a system of colored wristbands to track migrants who pay to cross illegally into the United States, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Hundreds of colored plastic wristbands left behind by migrants have been spotted lying along the banks of the Rio Grande in the scrubby grassland near Penitas, Texas.

A witness told Reuters that migrants crossing the river on makeshift rafts would rip off and dump the red, blue, green and white wristbands. Some were marked 'arrivals' or 'entries' in Spanish.

Use of the plastic wristbands - which had not been widely reported before - are used by some immigrants who are trying to evade border agents. Others are mostly Central American families or young children traveling without parents who turn themselves into officials, often to seek asylum.

...snip...

'Information on the bracelets represents a multitude of data that is used by smuggling organizations, such as payment status or affiliation with smuggling groups,' Dyman told Reuters.

If smugglers are able to afford $500 wristbands for each illegal alien, they must be making a fortune off each of them.

From the article it sounds like the illegals are paying for them. Kind of a protection racket.

Why are Democrats using the cartels as human trafficking providers instead of flying asylum applicants direct from country of origin?

This is depraved.

That picture doesn’t look like $500 wrist bands. More like the wristbands they give out at nightclubs and concerts. Of course if they have GPS tracking embedded they would be more money.

Drug cartels stamp their “product” so I guess it makes sense to tag people too. Not just for seeing where they went but to learn where the softest entry points are for future shipments. And then just tell the people that it is for their own protection so other criminals won’t interfere.

>That picture doesn’t look like $500 wrist bands.<

Crappy title, they pay the coyotes $500 for the wristband, not that the bands originally cost $500.

they charge $500. That’s in addition to the thousand or so transport. And if it’s not up front, cartels do collect. One way or the other but they collect.

Biden’s policies are helping the cartels expand into American society, making exploitation, drug and human trafficking (and stirring social unrest), all that much easier. In essence, his policies are recreating in real time exactly what illegals say they’re running from.
