Unfortunately sanity is no longer the default at Stanford.
Stanford was ground zero for the PC Identity Politics movement which really got rolling during the mid 1980s
It's pretty much taken over the entire campus since then.
Ironically, Stanford's Hoover Institute became the custodian of much of the most historically significant Soviet Era government documents ( Gorby didn't get his San Fran mansion and cushy living stipend for nothing) which really pissed off the Left to no end.
Lot's of Russian scholars and ex Soviet officials visited Hoover back in the day and they just shook their heads with pure contempt at the campus Marxists and Maoists
