Sen. Rand Paul, one of the most outspoken Republicans about government spending, took to Twitter Sunday to ask if Congress’ borrowing is putting the U.S. economy on the same path as Venezuela's.
"New 1,000,000 bolivar note in Venezuela worth 53 cents," Paul tweeted, while linking to a Bloomberg report on hyperinflation in Caracas. "Will US be the next Venezuela with Congress borrowing over $6 trillion in one year?"
Paul’s comments came just a day after the Senate passed President Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill in a 50-49 vote.

They will mock and dismiss Sen. Paul. Then, one day someone will drag this out to show how right he was, while we’re cooking up our zoo animals.
With only a corrupt media, nobody will know until it's too late.
Don’t worry, everything will be fine, we just need to add a Zero to sll Currency Denominations
Its no accident that as this $1.9 trillion borrow and print monstosity becomes likely, the price of gold has begun to rise steeply.
The Dems can only dream, (this is what many of them hope for)
A lot of the money is going to prop up bankrupt activities like pension plans and broke cities. That will have a minimum effect on prices. What WILL zoom prices is the check is in the mail bribery schemes. All those 1400 checks floating about will come to roost buying commodity based items or drugs. The “wage” inflation with no productivity to back it up will be reflected at the super market for sure.
It’s less then trump’s! That is what is most amazing!
Berniezuela
If Rand has to ask, Rand is wilfully clueless. More BS!
Not exactly, Rand, the US Supreme Court did that.
There is a bigger question than the day-to-day economic Prattle
In the end does money have any meaning at all?
Being someone who believes in the ever after ; the continuity of time from antiquity and to the future I say no
What are traps in this world , are greed and attachment
Look at how many people have lost their lives or ruined their lives over money or wealth
China replaced communism with Social Democracy while keeping the totalitarian state of the CCP.
Six.
Trillion.
Dollars.
Insanity!!!!
“while we’re cooking up our zoo animals.”
If Bernie Sanders was elected he would promise the zoo animals would be the tastiest and most nutritious animals you’ve ever had!
But since the typical Chinese government official is a thousand times more competent than these clowns, we will still end up getting Venezuela.
The Venezuelan, or any government, can cut your buying power by half by printing all the paper money it wants, but it cannot tell you that your one ounce gold or silver coin now weighs only one half ounce.
That's why governments don't like precious metals - they lose control of whatever wealth you possess.
Poster #7 is correct. The chart below reminds me of the early stages of Germany's inflation in the 1920s:
The drunks are in control of the liquor store. Supermarket prices will accelerate and follow a similar path.
In the meantime . . . "it cannot tell you that your one ounce gold or silver coin now weighs only one half ounce".
Yep. If I were Rand I'd flee the country while my money was still worth something.
Si, senor.
US borrowing puts country on path to become Venezuela
When you reach the point of not being able to pay the debts the repo man shows up guess who he is.
