All virii, as with all bacteria, always mutate. Anyone who did not see this coming needs to turn in their “science card”. From an evolutionary point of view, and this is evolution in action, it ought to evolve to a tamer, less virulent form. A more deadly form will burn itself out quicker. A more contagious, but less deadly form will spread wider -— which is the “purpose” of evolution; i.e., make more babies.
