Consider PR as independent. What would Cuba and Venezuela do? What would Russia do, etc., etc. It would make sense to put laws in effect to support pharmaceutical and other industries, as PR had before Clinton. Also there is some law that causes shipping goods to this island more costly, change that one too. Probably some PRs on the mainland would move back affecting voting in some states and Congressional districts. How would that change the political scene on the mainland?
